About Me
What I bring to my design work
An Academic Designer
My deep experience of the academy includes a Ph.D. in English from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa—where I wrote a dissertation on contemporary Indigenous Pacific Island literature across media—and my work as Senior Professor of Practice in the English Department at Tulane University. I also have a B.Sc. in Mathematics from Simon Fraser University.
Out of a desire to combine my interests in media, narrative, and technology with my skills in writing, coding, and critical thinking, I completed a digital design certificate with a focus on interactive user experience and user interfaces. My work has been recognized by the American Advertising Foundation with two Addy Awards in 2024.
Bringing academic experience into design, my goal is to help fellow academics find authentic and visually appealing ways of representing themselves and their work.

As your designer, I aim to:
- make you feel like your work is understood (both the content and the labor of it)
- identify and build awareness of your important milestones
- help convey the value of your work to new audiences
- support you in the difficult task of self-promotion
- take on some of your “tech load”
- design and build you a site that is both beautiful and professional
